According to tradition, Ficocle (ancient Cervia) was founded within the so called “saline” – salt-works – which from the Etruscan epoch and onwards, have meant luck for this important center in the Ravenna province. In the ancient epoch of King Theoderic, the city of Ravenna was a fundamental reference point for the Roman Empire.
This explains why we have chosen the photo of the mausoleum of Theoderic (or Teodericus, as the Gothic king is named on an ancient coin whith his effigy), situated in the Campo Coriandro area - once in the outskirts – towards the sea – today completely included in the historical center.
At the present Cervia-Milano Marittima, from being “the city of salt” and pine-forests (mentioned by both Dante Alighieri and Lord Byron), has become Italy’s 4th most important tourist center. That is also why the realization of the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia was felt almost as a must.
