The pilgrims travelling to the Eternal City to gain plenary indulgence were called “Romei” and Romea is one of the ways that those pilgrims travelled along, coming from the north. Still today this way is connecting Venice and other Centers of the Northern Adriatic coast to Ravenna and Cervia. Eastwards and southwards (apart from the ancient Roman ways) the Highway A14 (exit Cesena) is connecting Cervia to the rest of Italy. For the golfists the most important fact is anyhow that Bologna’s Airport (Guglielmo Marconi) is connected to the most important European and Overseas countries. Tourists coming from Northern and Central Europe generally choose to fly to Venice while Rimini is the airport chosen by travellers from East Europe. We can therefore say that the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia is situated in the center of the ancient “Gulf of Venice” (as the Adriatic sea was proudly called by the republic “Serenissima”) but also in the very center of Europe.
